EICMA 2010: BMW R 1200 RT [Live Photos]
The bike uses an engine with two overhead camfshafts per cylinder that deliver 110 hp at 7,750 rpm and a peak torque of 88 lb-ft (120 Nm) at 6,000 rpm and can be revved up to 8,500 rpm. The boxer unit comes with an exhaust system that uses electronically controlled flaps and a special rear silencer. All this offer the motorbike a powerful sound.
Customers can choose to have the bike finished in Polar metallic, Ostra Grey metallic matt, Thunder Grey metallic or in a multi-color paintjob that uses Thunder Grey Metallic as the basic color.
The ride comes with a long list of goodies that will please both connoisseurs and new-comers to the segment, including ESA II Electronic Suspension Adjustment with damping, spring base and an adjustable spring rate. The rider can modify this using a special button. The bike also offers ABS and a set of hard-shell cases as standard features. Each of the two cases offers a storage capacity of 32 liters.
The two-wheeled creation offers a high level of protection against wind and bad weather, as the company has performed multiple design studies during the development phase. The rider can enjoy an audio system, which features a controllable interface for a USB/MP3 and iPod and can be operated through the Multi-Controller.
