It seems like Edison2 is getting closer to produce their VLC (Very Light Car), as they revealed an upgraded version of the 2011 model.
The company won $5 million from the Progressive Automotive X Prize that helped them to further enhance the vehicle.
Constructed using an unusual tear-shape design with the wheels being separated from the main shell, it is said by the company that it is “the world’s most efficient four passenger vehicle”, having a very low drag coefficient.
Aerodynamics were improved since the last model, as well as the driver’s visibility and the ride quality, due to the larger wheels. But larger wheels were not the only modifications that altered ride quality, as the car has an in-wheel built suspension system, that also strengthens the car’s structure, as the wheel housing itself is not moving during damping.
The company hasn’t released engine specifications, but a hybrid or full-electric drive system, like the one used with the previous concept, is expected to equip the new car.
