The US Patent and Trademark Office has been a recurring subject here at autoevolution as of late, chiefly because many automakers, including Fiat, had something or another to register. The newest of filings comes in the form of EcoBeast, filed by the Ford Motor Company on December 22th, 2014.
After snooping around the uspto.gov database, we found out the Blue Oval registered that trademark back in February as well, under the “Automobile graphics, namely, pressure sensitive graphics for application to automobiles; decals; and bumper stickers” category. This time around, the trademark category is “Automobiles and automobile engines.”

As mentioned by automotive news outlet Motrolix, EcoBeast might be an evolution of the automaker’s successful and highly-acclaimed brand of EcoBoost turbocharged petrol-fed engines. Based on the fact some 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 F-Series truck owners have nicknamed their workhorses EcoBeast, it’s not wishful thinking to believe this mysterious new mill will be offered on the 2016 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor.

After a short look in the SAE International standard search engine, we didn’t found out any proper info on the EcoBeast engine because it’s not registered at the present moment. Whether the Blue Oval decides to bring the all-new Raptor truck at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, we recommend to take that rumor with a sizable grain of salt for rather obvious of reasons.

Nevertheless, the 2015 Ford F-150 light-duty truck offers two turbo engines at the present moment: a 2.7 V6 with 325 ponies and a 3.5-liter V6 with 365. Six cylinders or eight, only time will tell what this EcoBeast turbocharged powerhouse has in store for us. But do expect the motor to churn out a tad more get-up-and-go than the 411 hp and 434 lb-ft (588 Nm) of torque of the 2014 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor.
