Remember when your grandmother gifted you that old German watch that you still wear sometimes? At some point we all forgot about designing things to last, creating high quality goods with great endurance over time. Well, this bicycles enthusiasts from California have created a product that they believe could bring back the glory vintage things used to stand for, yet still using modern technologies.
By now some of you have heard the world electric so many times it almost feels like a modern swear of some sort. Hey, we get it, nothing is like a bad boy V8 on a classic Shelby. However, staying green in the form of a part-time job shouldn’t be such a big deal, it shouldn’t imply so many sacrifices. In fact we might have just stumbled upon the right think to solve that.
California-based Vintage Electric have created the E Tracker, an electric bicycle visually inspired by the board track racers that used to storm the early 1900s. First of all, we are looking at an e-bike hand crafted with close attention to details and quality. The battery box takes the shape of an old-school motorcycle engine casing, while both the saddle and grips are produced by London-based specialists Brooks.
Yet, like we said earlier, modern technologies such as the regenerative braking and optional LED lighting are also part of the deal. Since we’re looking at a custom build product, the buyer can opt for optional features as well as custom paint jobs. The standard versions start at a decent price for an e-bike that is promising great speeds and pretty impressive range.
For little under $5,000 you get a perfect green and cool-looking commuter capable of reaching a top speed of 36 mph, while the battery will last for 30 mph per charge. At least this is what Vintage Elecric claims. Take it to work and plug it in there for two hours and you’re good to go.
