Not only is Dwayne Johnson starring in Furious 7, but it’s possibly the first times we'll see one of the all-time greatest professional wrestlers getting his but kicked. Jason Statham is to blame for that, but that’s just showbizz. Entertainment is the same reason we now see The Rock next to a stunning metal-grey Lamborghini Aventador.
Like we said, Furious 7 is bringing some premieres on screen this year. We’re talking heavy special effects, a Lykan Hypersport jumping through windows from a one skyscraper to the other and Dwayne Johnson shooting a huge gun. Looking at the trailer it appears there’s also one scene in which The Rock is getting his butt kicked by Jason Statham a thing as rare as comets cruising the Earth’s sky.
Yet, the 42-year old actor is taking his fair share of revenge with a new HBO series he’s starring in called "Ballers". Created by British Academy Television International Award winner Stephen Levinson, the American television series is centered around a group of football players and their families, friends and handlers. The pilot episode was written by Levinson and directed by Peter Berg.
Dwayne Johnson is sort of playing himself, since his main character - Spencer Strasmore - is a retired athlete. It was just a couple of days ago when HBO announced that they are picking up to series half-hour pilot "Ballers" toplined by the wrestler-turned-into-actor. It’s the movie star’s first major series gig and we’re pretty sure it’s going to be a blast.
As far as we can tell, we’re still about three months short until the first episode will air, which means Johnson is pretty busy these days shooting and whatnot.
The fact that he’ll be driving a Lamborghini Aventador sure has to count for something, after all we’re talking about retired football stars...
