Ducati unveils their all-new HV-1 Pro helmet, a lid manufactured by renowned maker Arai and whose graphics have been created by Altro Drudi of Drudi Performance fame.
Hi-viz motorcycle helmets are a thing, and a very good one, at least for riders who are concerned about being easier to see for the rest of the motorists. While loud colors are especially favorable for daytime rides in overcast, rainy weather, reflective panels on the riding gear and even on the helmet are quite useful at night and in other low-light conditions.
With the HV-1 Pro, Ducati hopes to bring the two worlds together, offering an asymmetric graphic design. To some it may look a bit off, but when it comes to functionality, it looks like this one will be hard to beat.
This is the first helmet in the Ducati range that incorporates both high-visibility and reflective paint. The lid is based on the Arai Vector 11 Pro Tour shell and is made from Super Fiber Laminate, being sturdy and lightweight.
Regardless of how advanced Arai helmets may be, external sun visors can cause noises and turbulence that can be distracting or downright unnerving for certain riders. Likewise, having dirt and dead bugs accumulating between the sun visor and face shield never scored high on our list, either.
The lid is certified for usage in Japan, Europe and the USA, and comes in sizes XS through XXL. We spotted one in the US Ducati store for $650, which makes us think it will be around €650 in Europe.
