Ducati Recalls 2009-2010 Motorcycles
The direct consequence of this fuel hose failure would lead to an engine stalling and a fuel leak. This means that if this incident occurs close to an ignition source, the motorcycle could catch fire, or the rider would be unable to maintain speed or accelerate and therefore it would raise the risk of crash, especially at higher speeds.
“Ducati is recalling certain model year 2009-2010 motorcycles. The fuel hose may become disconnected from the fuel pump which could result in engine stalling and a fuel leak. Stalling can cause a crash and a fuel leak can result in a fire,” said the notification posted on the official National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website.
Just as expected, all operations will be conducted free of charge through Ducati's authorized US dealership network. However, the manufacturer hasn’t provided an owner notification schedule yet, but the recall is expected to begin in October 2009. Owners of the models in question may also contact Ducati at 800-231-6696.
“Dealers will inspect and if required replace and reposition the fuel hose retaining clamp free of charge. The recall is expected to begin during October 2009,” the safety recall stated.
