Ducati announces the Monster 821, the latest addition to the family. The new bikes is powered by the 821cc Testastretta 11° liquid-cooled v-twin engine, which is said to deliver no less than 112 horsepower, making the Monster 821 a really interesting option for those in search of an upper-middleweight naked beast.
The Monster 821 seems to carry on Ducati’s trend of renewing the Monster family, and this machine is definitely going to be a successful downscaled version of the top-end Monster 1200. Tipping the scales at 179.5 kg (396 lbs dry) and capable of delivering 89.4Nm (65.9 lb-ft) of torque and maintaining a light attire, the Monster 821 is a truly appealing choice for both young and more seasoned riders.

On the tech side, Ducati used its latest technologies liberally, and has endowed the Monster 821 with plenty of features to make the ride more pleasurable and safer. Alongside the adjustable seat height, the bike also comes with 8-level traction controls, 3-level ABS and 3-level Ride-by-Wire adjustment, seamlessly integrated in the user-friendly Riding Modes system, easily accessible by means of push-buttons.

Ducati offers the Monster 821 in basic or Dark liveries. Base models come in either Ducati red with red frame and black wheels, or star white silk with red frame and matte red wheels, both with color-matched single-seat covers. The Dark version has dark stealth paint with black frame and black wheels. The new Monster 821 can also be supplied with restrictor kits: 25kW for Switzerland and 35kW for the rest of the European countries it will be sold in, thus being a great choice for beginners, too.

A truly faithful follower of the Borgo Panigale tradition, the new Ducati monster 821 will be in dealerships starting from July, 2014. We’ll be back with a more detailed tech specs sheet, so watch this space for more info.
