It's always cool when the big motorcycle manufacturers shake hands with toy makers and deliver spectacular items that please the eyes and the minds of both kids and adults. The latest to do so is Ducati, and their newest toy is an awesome Monster 1200 S.
Ducati and Spin Master Corp. teamed up and signed a licensing agreement to create Meccano building sets that replicate the most important bikes in Ducati's history. It is not known yet whether this agreement will only yield models that are in the current Ducati line-up, or if “build and play” sets of older important motorcycles will be manufactured.
As we already said, the first Meccano Ducati bike is the Monster 1200 S, one of the most acclaimed motorcycles manufactured by Borgo Panigale. The photos don't do it justice, and even though this toy may seem like a very simple, almost minimalist one, in reality things are way different.
The bike also retains the dual staggered shotgun exhaust and a functioning kickstand, plus other components we'll leave you to discover. This build and Play set is suitable for adults as well as kids aged 10 or older.
“We are delighted to announce this new licensing agreement, which will allow us to develop Ducati motorcycles in the distinctive Meccano style. I’m sure that Ducati fans of any age will have a lot of fun playing with the Meccano Build and Play series,” Alessandro Cicognani, Ducati Licensing Director says.
Ben Gadbois, Global President and Chief Operating Officer, Spin Master Corp., adds: “Meccano and Ducati are both legendary brands with legions of fans around the world and we’re excited to bring these two icons together for the first time. The Meccano Monster 1200 S model has the unmistakable design and distinguishing features that visibly communicates the sophistication, timeless quality and uniqueness of a Ducati.”
No info on how many Meccano sets will be developed was offered, but we can expect that the series will include a Panigale superbike, the Diavel, and even the Scrambler. The Ducati Monster 1200 S Build and Play set is already available at toy and hobby shops, Ducati informs.
