Italian manufacturer Ducati already has a tradition of sending Christmas greeting cards through email to its customers, suppliers and partners. This year, however, Ducati decided to ask its fans to enter a dedicated competition to create a Desmo Christmas e-card.

The Ducati Greetings Contest will use the Shicon platform, where you can sign up and upload your design any time between now and December 9, 2010. The entries can be seen in a special section of the aforementioned website and the public can even vote for their favourite design (again by December 9).

A day later, a Ducati internal jury will decide on the winning entry and 1,000 euro ($1,363) prize money will be awarded to the winner. The winning design will be used all over the world as the Italian motorcycle brand's official greetings card.

“Get ready to express your creative talent and your passion for Ducati!”
Ducati says. “Christmas is coming and it's snowing ideas - we want yours!”

However, Ducati warns that creations should be simple, show style and elegance, and it has to be in line with the corporate image and brand values. For this matter, the company has also enabled the possibility of downloading a special kit which you can use for your creations.

Entrants should also keep in mind they have to avoid religious and strong seasonal references, there must be no references at dangerous behaviours like wheelie, speed, inadequate clothing, and no famous people.

According to the company, all the other winners optionally selected by Ducati will get visibility: they will be shared on the Ducati website and social networks/blogs connected with the name of the designer displayed.
