You the old saying: the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Funny how every now and then this turns out to be as true as it gets, and the latest occasion to prove it is the small mistake the owners of MotoCorsa Ducati dealership in Portland, OR. After being named the best Ducati dealership in the US, the guys thought to take a picture in full glory.
However, they ignored the very background against which they took the photo, and the fact that it showed a huge picture of a Panigale bike, but displaying the 1299 badge instead of the 1199 one current motorcycles have. The photo was published on Facebook, and removed later, but it was all too late and peering eyes saw it and saved it as well.

The 1299 Panigale is rumored to make appearance in early November at the EICMA, and it looks like it will replace the actual 1199 Panigale R. This in turn, means that the World Superbike machines will be based on the 1299 for the 2015 season and on into the future until rules change once more. As the WSBK will adopt the EVO regulations form 2015 on, certain aspects of the bikes’ engineering have become subject to more restrictive specs, hence the rumored displacement increase in order to maintain competitiveness.

Customers will still be able to buy the 1199 Panigale and 1199 Panigale S, if their budget or preferences makes the new 1299 non-eligible. With the 100cc displacement increase, the peak power of the 1299 Panigale is also expected to reach past the 200 hp mark. When the new Panigale arrives, it will already have a very interesting, if so far mysterious competitor, the Kawasaki Ninja H2. Via insella.
