It's been a while since we last saw a new DS model from PSA Peugeot-Citroen. The French announced that DS would be turned into a separate premium brand, but since then we've only seen facelifts of the DS3 and DS5 (soon the DS4 as well). That could change with the arrival of their first SUV.
Everybody knows how lucrative the SUV market is right now, right down to the smallest FWD-based cars. After they had launched the Q3 and GLA, Audi and Mercedes saw their sales rocked in America.

What does that have to do with Citroen? Well, you guys could be looking at their first SUV. Members of the Auto Plus community recently snapped photos of this metallic mocha brown 4x4 (actually, could be 4x2) in Montbeliard, a city in the east of France about 13 kilometers from Switzerland.

The prototype is probably undergoing testing since it's in the company of another DS vehicle. It has French license plates, a DS6 logo and Chinese symbols on the back end. That's because this is a DS model that's already in production in the Middle Country.

Back in 2013, Citroen caused an enormous stir with the DS Wild Rubis Concept crossover that was unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show. At the time, it was said the 4.7-meter model was going to enter production as the DS6, which Europe never received.

Instead, the DS 5WR SUV went into production for the Chinese market late in 2014. There, it's now available with 163 and 200 PS versions of the 1.6-liter THP turbo or a cheaper naturally aspirated 1.8 making 139 PS.

If sold in Europe, the DS6 would fall somewhere between the Q3 and Q5 in terms of size and offer typical French design, like the watch strap seats.
