Street racing is a messy business. You always run the risk of getting arrested, running over an innocent bystander or damaging/totaling your awesome vehicle. And yet many people still do it because the results can be spectacular, as is the case in the clip you're about to see.
In the red shorts, we have a 2013 Tesla Model S P85, electric vehicle royalty. Running on nothing but electricity, this is quite a special machine and has put Tesla firmly on the map. On the other hand, the black Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG is no slough either. Its 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 engine has been tuned and puts down 700 horsepower, which is about 300 more than the Model S. And yet the American machine comfortably pulls a lead and keeps it until the end of the race.

This is by no means the first time a tesla Model S has surprised us in a good way. Thanks to its instant power delivery, this (exact, as in the one in the video) electric vehicle has outgunned a Dodge Viper SRT10 at the Palm Beach International Raceway. So what happened to the G 63 AMG isn't actually a surprise, but still something to behold.

As far as drag races are concerned, this could prove to be a very controversial one! Just imagine the impact of Tesla's upcoming budget sedan, which will retail for about $35,000 in a couple more years and might run circles around BMWs and Audis. If that happens, it's "good game" for the gas guzzlers and hello electric plugs everywhere.
