Back in 1990, Oz-based motorcyclist Alan Kempster was hit by a drunk driver and the terrible crash resulted in Alan losing his right hand and leg to amputation. At 48, Alan decided he wanted to ride again and even more, follow his racing dream. And believe it or not, so he did.
He got his bike modified and took all the controls on the left side, despite some of the ones around him believing that it was all just false hope. Alan chased his dream and he finished first in the very first race after the accident.
Far from bragging upon it, Alan sets a wonderful example by stating he's also looking forward to starting a riding school for disabled persons and offer support, counseling and inspiration for guys passing through hard times after losing one or more limbs.
Hats off to Alan, both because of his monumental inspirational story and because he's still riding faster than a lot of us.
