FlexTech Energy Management System, Dorel calls its latest invention, one that has been fitted for the first time on a company's product and one that Dorel hopes will set new standards in child safety.
To be used on the S1 Rumi Air Harnessed Booster Seat, the new safety system promises to offer an additional layer of protection for kids in case of an impact, by absorbing the external crash forces. The system features, as a premiere in the industry, an internal truss design, a choice that allows for a better distribution of the forces acting on the seat during an impact.
The seat itself promises to become one of the leading products on the offering of Dorel, as the FlexTech system is not the only one built into the product. Air Protect Side Impact Technology and a 12-position headrest are also offered to go.
The seat, tested and approved by the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS), is also compliant with the new recommendations made by the American Academy of Pediatrics regarding keeping children in a belt-positioning booster seat until they reach 4 feet 9 inches tall. (The recommendations call for parents to keep kids in rear-facing restraints until two years of age and place children under 13 in the back seat).
"Our Air Protect technology is an innovation we're extremely proud of, and it has saved the lives of several children since its introduction," said Dave Taylor, Dorel Juvenile Group CEO. "The FlexTech™ Energy Management System is the next generation of car seat safety - as it revolutionizes the design of car seats to provide the best protection for our children."
