Don't Try This Scooter Jump at Home

Jumping small-displacement scooters is a tricky business most likely because their not-that-potent power plants, less robust frames and short-travel suspensions. If anything, getting one airborne is a much easier task than safely landing it, and this is one of the aspects people who feel like going Evel Knievel seem to forget.
However, if you are a skilled X Games and Metal Mulisha rider like Jackson "Jacko" Strong, things may look a bit different. Of course, Jacko went through so many crashes and had a lot of brushes with becoming severely injured that smashing a scooter into the banks of a creek looks like one of the low-risk possibilities.

Frankly, we didn't think he would make it

We saw so many scooter stunt fails that we almost started to associate these two-wheelers with stunt mishaps. There is no telling as to the technical improvements of the scooter, if it has any at all.

We can assume Jacko meddled a bit with the scoot's ECU, as it is well-known that these two-wheelers can deliver surprising results when "unlocked" and the peak rev, torque and power limits are removed.

Jacko's landing is a hard one, and the sound of the scooter hitting the ground is more than eloquent. Still, it looks like Jackson "Jacko" Strong was smart enough and learned from other stunts that he needs a lot of speed to clear such jumps, so he started building up speed from quite a distance.

Even so, narrow earth ramps and grass landings can add a lot of risk and cause a jump to fail utterly, even for skilled riders. We've seen our fair share of people missing the ramp altogether or earth unable to support the weight of the incoming scooter, we've also seen frames breaking upon landing and people getting hurt is less crazy stunts.

If there was a time for advice, we'd advise that you should refrain from trying this yourselves, at least as long as you think you can't spare a broken scooter and some limbs. Odds are you will get both...

And since we mentioned, Knievel, here's Doug Danger clearing out 22 cars, succeeding where Evel did not.
