The 2014 MINI Takes the States tour is currently underway, with motorists heading to the finish line in Boston, MA where they are supposed to arrive on August 10. This is no regular race, however, the MINI enthusiasts that are doing it every year being invited to take their beloved pets along with them.

The British company seems to have a strong connection with dogs, developed over the years. It’s by no accident that Spike is the new model’s official mascot and that the MINI Takes the States logo features a dog as well. Man’s best friend seems to be as welcome inside a new car as anyone else around.

Now, MINI USA launched a new video showcasing the canine co-drivers involved in the so-called cross-country race. A couple of really cute dogs paraded in front of the camera, some in the arms of their owners, some right next to them and some even went solo, with no humans inside the car whatsoever (they were noticed at the back, pushing the vehicle though) forward, though.

During the event, motorists will cover over 5,000 miles, going through 14 states and 18 cities, including locations such as Austin and Dallas in Texas, Memphis, TN, St. Louis, MO, Chicago, IL and Boston, of course.

More than 350 people set off from San Francisco nearly two weeks ago, with plenty more joining the ranks on the way. Sunday, they all will be crossing the finish line, canine helpers included!
