Dodge Preparing Fiat Punto Evo US Sibling? First Sketch Inside

Ever since Fiat announced its involved in the Chrysler business, we all knew that the US-based manufacturer, which went bankrupt in 2009, will undergo a massive reorganization, with new products and technologies to come from European soil. And this is basically what's happening to Chrysler nowadays, under the close observation of Sergio Marchionne, who's now serving as CEO of both Fiat and Chrysler.

The Italian has already confirmed the names of the models to be brought in the US and sold under Chysler's badge, but a new rumor has emerged. This time it concerns Dodge and a new model that it could be developed in the next few years.

Just like in the case of the other models, the new Dodge is more or less related to Fiat. The adjacent photo, which is in fact is a sketch of a so-called Dodge future model, was projected on the screens at the Chicago Auto Show. Although none of the Dodge officials wanted to comment on this, it appears that this is a new Dodge B-segment model that could be released in the US in around two years.

No details are available but here's where the fun begins. Just like the guys over at autoblog.it wrote, this could be an upgraded version of Fiat Punto Evo, a model that could undergo several modifications to correspond with the US market. Including exterior styling upgrades, as you can see for yourselves in the picture.

And although some people could think that such a hatch isn't appropriate for a sedan-loving market like the US, Chrysler is poised to give it a try, as it's the case of other Fiat models brought into its natal country.

What do you mean "a hatch isn't appropriate for a sedan-loving market like the US.?" While hatches don't sell as well as sedans on here, they certainly can hold their own. The Ford Focus both the outgoing 2011 version and the "new" 2012 Version have done quite well as does the VW GTI. I recently purchased a Volvo C30 T5. With the fuel prices ever rising people are looking for more fuel efficient and pratical ways to get around. While hatches are still associated with kids and people who can't afford coupes or sedans, they ARE growing in popularity and will continue to do so *IF* manufacturers will put out ever more stirring designs. The recently introduced Hyundia Velositor is a good example of forward thinking hatch design as well as my (overpriced) Volvo C30 T5 - while not popular in the US I believe it could have been if marketed with anything more than a Swedish nonchalant regard for the US consumer by lack of advertisement.
