Dodge Gets New Logo

The revamp American manufacturer Chrysler is going through after the Italians from Fiat took their 30 percent stake continues, with the latest announcement being the visual revival of the Dodge brand. Starting today, Dodge will use a new logo, which Chrysler bluntly interpreted in a release.

The new Dodge logo is made up of two components, the Dodge name and a pair of red racing stripes relative to the "E." According to Chrysler, the racing stripes suggest speed but, to be honest, we fail to see that passed the oblique red lines...

Chrysler promises to show the two lines only in communications, advertising, Internet and merchandising, and not on Dodge products or on the dealership signage. Which brings us back to our stripes-lines debate: shouldn't the lines, meant to be reminiscent of speed, be featured on the car? Or are they talking about the loading speed of your browser?

Anyway, there's a good reason behind the creation of the new logo, other than the usual need for freshness. Chrysler has gone for a new logo because Dodge oversized baby, Ram Trucks, has flew the nest and became a brand of its own a few months back.

"As the Dodge brand redefines itself with new lifestyle packages, new ads, events and sponsorships, and a slew of upcoming new products, it's using its brand name to send a clear message that its "forever young" attitude and performance-driven history will drive the brand into the future,"
Chrysler says in the statement.
