A certain slide presented earlier this year during the Chrysler Investor Day hinted that the Dodge Dart will get a mid-cycle refresh in June 2016. We also know that an SRT will follow in December, boasting with a high revving turbo'd four-cylinder mill and AWD.
The only other detail officially revealed by Dodge regarding the facelited Dart is that the little sedan will boast with improved "driving dynamics" and a couple of new engine options. But according to a new report coming from AutomotiveNews, Dodge will add the heavily anticipated nine-speed automatic to the Dart as well, with the addition of other bits and bobs to lower emissions and improve mileage.

Although the source doesn't specify what kind of fuel saving technologies are in store, it's a given that the refreshed Dart will get stop & start. The all-new Chrysler 200 has it, so why shouldn't it trickle down to the more mundane Dodge Dart? The previously mentioned publication also hints that Dodge will cut down on standard features and optional extras in order to reduce the final price of the thing, which should make the updated Dart that little bit more attractive to people in the market for a compact sedan.

About that tranny, that'll be the ZF nine-speed automatic box that debuted on the 2014 Jeep Cherokee and it comes as standard on the 2015 Chrysler 200. Not much will be happening at Dodge next year. The only major event the company announced is a mid-cycle refresh for the Viper, expected to come in July 2015 in the form of more powerful engine - a supercharged V10, probably. That would be nice, alright.

An all-new Journey will be unveiled in July 2016. This new model is currently knows as the "D-CUV."
