As part of DJ Mustard’s debut album, 10 Summers, scheduled to be released on August 26, rapper and producer Dijon McFarlane has been working hard lately. The artist recently posted an image of a blue 1960s Chevrolet Impala quoting it’s part of his new video.
The debut album opens with “Low Low” featuring Nipsey Hussle, TeeCee and RJ, a track reminiscent of the G-Funk era. Fans will see the LA-based rapper driving the blue full-size sedan in the video of “Ghetto Tales” featuring Jay 305 and TeeCee, who swop hood stories in a fashion similar to Too $hort on 1988’s “Freaky Tales.”

Even though Mustard has been producing songs for and featuring famous rappers such as 2 Chainz, Tyga, YG and Jeezy, “10 Summers” is his first studio album, so it’s only natural he wanted to keep everything special. The Impala we’re looking at seems to have lifted suspensions, which is probably specific to rappers ever since Dr.Dre and Snoop Dogg did the famous Still D.R.E. video. We can’t tell if Mustard’s ride has the jumper wheels, but we’re pretty sure they’re the pimped-up ones.

Folks might think the Chevrolet Impala is not that cool anymore, but let us remind you that it was one of U.S.’ most popular and best soled cars back in the day. Ed Cole, Chevrolet’s chief engineer in the late 1950s, defined the Impala as a “prestige car within the reach of the average American citizen.” As to the one in case, we think it’s part of the third generation models, which means it was restyled on the GM B platform for the first time in 1961. The new body styling was more trim and boxy than the 1958-1960 models.
