European laws introduced a few years back state that the bonnet of the car has to be raised a couple of inches from the engine block, in order to reduce pedestrian injuries in case of accidents. As a result, the proportions of some models have taken a turn for the worst (most notably the Mini Cooper).

A young designer wanted to prove that you don’t have to sacrifice looks in order to ensure pedestrian safety. Yungho Jung has envisioned a Saab for the year 2025. The concept has been developed as a project for a graduation course in transportation design in the Umea Institute of Design, a leading school that prepares transportation designers.

The main theme of the project is safety, as Yungho noticed that most of accidents occur due to carelessness of drivers or speeding. The body of this Saab is made of a flexible composite and can change its shape, absorbing impacts to reduce damage.

The futuristic Saab looks menacing and purposeful, with flared wheel arches and large intakes. The perfect ratio of 2 to 1 is kept between the total height of the vehicle and the size of the wheels. Speaking of wheels, they come with a 5-spoke design, with geometrical turbine-like spokes.

The front grille is black and houses two small headlights that have a swooping V shape. At the back, double trapezoidal exhausts and a boot spoiler give the car its sporty looks. The four-door concept looks especially good from the side, combining coupe lines in a sedan configuration.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
