At the beginning of the week, Nissan revealed not only a whole new car but also a new brand. Datsun has been revived as a budget brand that sort of mirrors Renault's tactic with Dacia, but in a much more extreme way.
The Go is really small and makes huge compromises in terms of equipment that Dacia doesn't make any more. The car doesn't even have a speedo any more, not to mention that it has fixed headrests like an old van. But we do like it for its price. In India, the Datsun Go will cost from about €5,000 which is where the Dacia brand should have come in but never did.
Obviously, with a car designed and built for emerging markets, the suspension on the Go is probably durable and soft. But what if you need something that deals with the bumps on a daily basis. The Go could just be updated into a soft-roader, like this GO Cross rendered by X-Tomi Design.
Beefed up wheel arches and bumpers plus increased ground clearance ensure the car will be able to cope with rougher roads.
