Dartz is famous for being a company with a rather eccentric view of how a vehicle should look and feel. While they have surprised us in the past, they will continue to do so in the future, with this, the oddly-named Nagel Dakkar, which is an over-the-top and luxurious off-roader.
With it, the company claims to have ‘invented’ a new class of vehicles called B.N.U.D.S. (Bespoke Noble Urban Desert Safety) - good thing it isn’t called the Noble Urban Desert Explorer - For Advanced Terrain, as that would have been rather odd to abbreviate. Aside from the ‘new class of vehicles’, the SUV’s name is also quite strange, as apparently ‘Nagel’ is the name of a Russian driver who won the Monte Carlo Rally, way back at the dawn of motoring, in 1913 - at least it has history.

The company released a rather odd press release, as well as a professional rendering, along with two sketches done the good old fashioned way - with pencil on paper. The finished product will be powered by Mercedes’ latest 5.5-liter V8 twin-turbo, which should make around 650 hp. Power will go to all four wheels through a seven-speed automatic gearbox with low range and the car will have a titanium tubular frame chassis.

Dartz plan to make a very small number of these vehicles, no two of which will be the same, as they plan to tailor each one to the customer’s needs. If you want to be among their customers, though, you will have to shell out between $390,000 and $486,000 (€250,000 - €300,000) for one of the 10 vehicles they plan to build next year, or the 20 they want to sell in 2014 and 40 units per year as of 2015.
