In Europe, Dacia is the Renault way of saying: “Here, you wanted a low-cost car brand? You got it!” Other than the popular Logan sedan, Sandero supermini and Duster crossover SUV, the Romanian marque also offers the Lodgy MPV and Dokker small van.
Cutting straight to the chase, the Dacia Lodgy is as cheap as you can go if you’re in the market for a 7-seater multi-purpose vehicle. On the other hand, the Dacia Dokker can be had either as a proper van or with 5 seats.

Now here’s an interesting fact: what’s known as the Mercedes-Benz Citan is, essentially, a badge-engineered Renault Kangoo with the 1.5-liter dCi turbo diesel engine featured in Dacia vehicles.

Without further beating around the bush, what’s the deal with the Stepway variants of the Lodgy and its more utilitarian brother? For starters, Stepway isn’t an all-new model but the carmaker’s way of labeling the range-topping trim level of any given model.

Other than the Bleu Azurite exterior hue, metallic roof bars and Stepway stickers on the front doors, these two follow the Sandero Stepway’s visual traits. That translates to the black plastic cladding and higher ground clearance over the standard Dacia Lodgy and Dokker.

On the inside, Carbon Fonce upholstery with contrasting blue stitching and dashboard trim are the highlights. A media system with sat nav, air con, cruise control and parking sensors are also available.

Pricing? €12,500 is what you have to pay for the 1.6 MPI-powered Dacia Lodgy Stepway. The 1.5 dCI is €15,200, while the 115 horsepower 1.2 TCe turbo petrol with start and stop is €14,100. As for the Dacia Dokker Stepway, the 1.2 TCe-powered version costs €13,320, while the 90 horsepower diesel is €14,120.
