Custom Yamaha RD125 by Costello Fabrications [Photo Gallery]
It's the case of Costello Fabrication and their customized 1970's Yamaha RD125, now turned into a true racing beast, if we can afford to call an 125cc bike a beast, that is. Bobby Costello came by this motorcycle at a bike fair and got it for a very low price, since it was rather beat up.
The RD125 got an RD80 fuel tank which can also house much of the wiring and electronics, while a bigger RD350 provided the front brake drum, for greater stopping force. Since the original engine was in pretty good shape, all it needed was a mod to accommodate bigger 28mm Mikuni carburetors. The exhaust is custom-made from different parts of moped pipes and some hand-made elements.
If you're asking about the dolphin fairing, Bobby Costello has moulded everything by himself in carbon fiber for a strong yet lightweight construction and perfect retro racing looks. The headlight position was changed form the front cowl to the fork, in order to maintain the styling of the bike's front end.
As Bobby Costello himself adds, the new RD125 racing bike is serious fun, especially as you can ride it really nice at 12,500 RPM.
