So if Cristiano Ronaldo wants to visit his son in the middle of the championship, that won’t be a problem from now on, since he just bought a private jet, apparently.
Portuguese tabloid Correio da Manha claims the world’s second highest-paid athlete - after Floyd Mayweather, of course - has just bought a new business jet. According to the source, it’s none other than the popular, among the 1%, at least, Gulfstream G200.
The average price a G200 is sold on the market for, new or used, starts at $6 million, but judging by what sports celebrities regularly do, Ronaldo will most likely upgrade his with the latest entertainment enhancements such as home theaters systems and whatnot. Aside from the price, which again should not be a problem for a footballer who scores a Rolls-Royce with the same frequency most of the petrolheads buy socks, the aircraft’s performance should be mentioned as well.
Originally designed by Israel Aircraft Industries, the G200 rolled off the production line on December 19, 2011, with a total of 250 units built. Typical seating varies from 8 to 10 passengers, although a maximum of 18 is possible. A crew of two controls the power plant that is based on two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW306A turbofans, producing 6,040 pounds of force each.
The maximum speed the jet is capable of reaching is Mach 0.85 (487 knots, 560 mph or 900 km/h). Its range is quite impressive, as it can cover a maximum 3,910 mile (6,300 km) cruise with four passengers on board and a Mach 0.75 cruising speed.
