Consumer Reports Expects Toyota to Announce Quick Fix for Emergency Trunk Release
This has prompted an investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), which has yet to conclude. Aside from the ES and GS, official Toyota representatives were able to replicate the defect in the smaller IS sedan, as well.
After they make a decision, they will alert all the owners of the 700,000 affected cars, which will be recalled into the dealerships, for the faulty part to be replaced by a more solid variant. While it has not been officially announced, the recall is set to begin in January of next year.
