Alright, we don't do this very often, but this time, it's definitely a must: kids, don't try this at home. In fact, you know what? Don't try this at all. But if, for some reason, you absolutely have to, at least don't follow these guys' example and wear some protection - at least a helmet.
That being said, these fellows are nothing short of heroes. They are essentially kids trapped in grown men's bodies, and while that's usually a very dangerous combination (as it turned out to be the case here as well), it's also one that can spark a lot of cool stuff (again, as it turned out to be the case here).

Simply put, they took two compact jet engines that usually power RC Boeing 747 models, built a custom-made belt to host them and then let their minds run riot with the possibilities this new contraption offered. It seems like using it to power a longboard was their favorite, but that was initially just a test devised to see how much power it can develop. What they actually had in mind was a lot more devious than that.

Eventually, the guys at theHacksmith.ca want to build an Iron Man flight suit, and this belt was just one feeble stepping stone toward that grand ultimate goal. However, they did have one more reason to build it: a friend of theirs (birds of a kind flock together, we guess) had constructed a 360-degrees swing (something resembling a trebuchet that's twice as high as a two-storey house) and their plan was to use the belt to spin all the way around.

Seeing how the device managed to propel them on a bike to 35 mph (55 km/h), it would have probably worked on the swing as well. With terrifying results, actually.

Sadly, the friend's neighbors complained about the crazy swing (probably their kids kept insisting they had a go in it) and so he had to take it down before the belt was ready. Oh, well, back to the drawing board. Sorry, I mean longboard.
