- Even more power for the Japanese monster
| Nissan GT-R tuning concept by COBRA N+ |
Power can only be substituted with more powe, this seems to be a personal motto at COBRA N+. With that in mind, the tuners have pushed the massive twin-turbo 3.8 liter V6 nuclear bomb, which already delivered 485 horsepower, behind the Nissan GT-R over the limit. The first tuning stage designed by the engineers from COBRA N+ will make the engine deliver 550 horsepower and an increase in torque to 680 Nm.
This goal will be achieved by reprogramming the electronics of the engine, increasing the boost pressure by 0.15 bar and modifying the air intake system by adding sport air filters. A free-flow COBRA N+ stainless-steel high performance exhaust system with metal catalyst will also be installed.
The COBRA N+ tuned Nissan GT-R is predicted to have a 0-60 time of less than 3.5 seconds and an estimated top speed of over 320 km/h. But the fun doesn't need to stop here because there are plans for a COBRA N+ RACE PERFORMANCE version of the Nissan GT-R that will develop 620 horsepower and a maximum torque of about 800 Nm.
When it comes to the platform, the suspension, wheels and brakes of the Nissan GT-R will go under the knife and suffer serious modifications. The car will flow on three-piece extremely lightweight 21-inch COBRA N+ light-alloy wheels. The tuning concept will also feature some design modifications such as a COBRA N+ front apron with larger air dams, enhanced aerodynamics that will reduce lift and improve cooling for the radiators and front brakes. A COBRA N+ rear apron with integrated diffuser and a larger rear air foil will also be added.
The COBRA N+ tuning program for the GT-R will be available in the spring of 2009 together with the model's launch in the European market.
