Citroen to Expand DS Range
A few days ago, the French automotive producer introduced the DS4 model at the Paris Auto Show. The next vehicle to enter the DS range is the DS5, which is scheduled to be released in the course of the following year.
However, Citroen is currently considering expanding the DS range with additional an model, as autocar reports. A top Citroen executive told the aforementioned source that the company could give birth to a DS sports car. In addition to that, the French automaker could also offer a DS3 derivative in the future.
The executive didn’t offer any details for the future vehicle based on the DS3. However, earlier this year, a company insider confirmed the fact that Citroen will build a topless version of the DS3. This is expected to come to the market in 2012. The DS3 cabrio’s price will top that of the hatchback by around EUR3,000 ($4,100). The source didn’t mention of the DS3 convertible will use a folding metal roof or a classic soft top.
We’d like to remind you that Citroen also presented the DS3 World Rally Championship car at the Paris event. The racer is powered by a turbocharged 1.6 liter engine that delivers 304 hp and a maximum torque of 350 Nm. The DS3 WRC will make its racing debut at the Rally Sweden, which will take place on February 10-13, 2011.
