Citroen DS2 Receives Graphic Reconstruction
The DS2 shares many of it’s lines with the Revolte concept that was exhibited at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2009. But the front fascia has been changed from the futuristic shape of the Revolte to one that is a little retro. In our eyes, the DS2 concept is the 2CV of the third millennium, as the lines are so similar along the bonnet to the famous ancestor. We are especially fond of the deep-set front grille and the bubble shape of the roof that give the car a cute, quirky shape.
The Citroen DS2 would fit in the Double Chevron range right under the DS3. This would make it the entry level car of the DS range and replace the three-door variant of C1, according to the manufacturer. The DS will share its platform with the next generation of C1, which makes it approximately 360 cm (141.7 inches) long.
If it ever gets built, the DS2 will make for a great rival to other new retro-inspired superminis, the Fiat 500 and Mini’s Cooper. But the French might already have the competition beat, thanks to the 5-door 4-seat configuration that neither one of its competitors offers.
As for the engine, the car will be equipped only with petrol engines with outputs ranging from 60 hp to 100 hp. The Citroen DS2 should debut on the market in 2013 at a price of EUR10,000 ($13,300). It will also be offered later with electric propulsion.
