Citroen Berlingo Electrique to Debut at 2013 CV Show
text size: A- A+
To turn it into an EV, Citroen fitted an electric motor under the bonnet where the engine would have been. Meanwhile, the source of its energy, a lithium-ion battery, is placed under the load deck. The battery produces 22.5kWh, giving the Berlingo Electric a range of 106 miles. Diesel-like performance is granted by the motor, which produces 49kW (67hp) and has a peak torque rating of 200Nm. The motor drives the front wheels through a speed reducer and a single-ratio gearbox.
Using a domestic wall socket, the EV can be fully charged in around 8 and a half hours or, alternatively, it can be charged to 80% of capacity as little as 35 minutes using a specific 380V three-phase terminal in quick-charge mode.
Expect final specifications and pricing to be released at the CV show in Britain.
