After The Sunday Mirror published an article stating Chris Evans could replace Jeremy Clarkson at the helm of Top Gear, the BBC Radio 2 DJ used his Twitter account to let us all know this is one story that is not going to happen.
This is one of those matters that requires a 100 percent clear take, so you have Evan’s tweet below. The message is about as clear as it can be.
The original story talked about the DJ replacing Clarkson after the Top Gear presenter’s controversial appearances - Clarkson has always been a friend of such acid moves, but two episodes that took place earlier this years seem to have taken the matter to a whole new level.
People were offended after Clarkson used the word “slope”, which is a racist term for Asian people. Moreover, controversy arose when the Top Gear presenter used the n-word - this took place during one of the shows’ out-takes.
Admittedly, the Mirror isn’t exactly a surprising source when it comes to publishing such a story, since they appear to have made a think for targeting Clarkson. The British publication talked about Evans’ passion for cars, as well as his talent in front of the cameras, speculating the DJ could take Clarkson’s place.
