The oceans of the world hold many surprises, some of them not belonging to them at all. A group of Chinese fisherman pulled huge car out of the waters in China. After careful examination, it proved to be a Porsche Cayenne SUV belonging to the previous generation.
One of these would have set you back about $110,000 (at least), but now, the twisted hunk of plastic and metal was worth only $650 in scrap.
The Cayenne was covered in seaweed and barnacles, which means it’s been underwater for about two years.
The waters off Beihai are supposedly frequented by smugglers who bring clandestine goods into China, avoiding high taxes. The smugglers could have pushed the car off their ship and into the water to avoid being caught with it by Chinese customs patrol boats.
