The Original RMS Titanic may have never reached New York City after leaving the docks in Southampton, UK, 103 years ago, but if the Chinese finish their replica, there may be a second chance. Other than the cheesy factor of building a replica of the legendary ship, we do have a couple of questions that pop up, such as what sort of propulsion will it use and whether or not it’s ever going to go on a transatlantic trip.
The Sichuan-based energy company behind the life-sized Titanic replica has announced that the ship will be open to the public by the end of 2017, according to Shanghaiist. The state-owned company managing the project estimates that the vessel will be ready to unveil in October, with construction to come to an end by August. According to the source, the replica was built for people to learn about the history of the legendary ship.
The intention of making a replica after the ship that hit an iceberg in the Atlantic Ocean and sank south of Newfoundland on April 14, 1912 was announced two years ago. They said the replica was supposed to be a stand still museum. They said the replica will be permanently docked on the Qi River at a theme park in landlocked Sichuan Province and will even simulate hitting the iceberg.
If the initial plans are valid, then we know there won't be any trans-Atlantic voyages with the Chinese Titanic anytime soon. We’re not saying that experiencing the ship while it’s docked is not something special. But just imagine how those three main engines would sound like.

We’re talking about a combined output of 30,000 horsepower from the engines, with a further 16,000 horsepower contributed by the turbine.
