Cadillac announced earlier this year that its ATS luxury sedan will go on sale in China, the world's largest automotive market, sometime in the second quarter of 2014. However, a recent set of spy photos hint that the ATS will be offered in China along with a long wheelbase version.
From what we can tell from the photo gallery attached below, the presumably named Caddy ATS-L features slightly longer rear passenger doors, also sporting a different roof-line behind the B-pillar and an elongated rear side window design.
The U.S. version of the luxury sedan measures 2,775 millimeters in wheelbase length. As for the long wheelbase Chinese model, this one will add 10 centimeters of extra back passenger comfort.
Under the hood we presume that the Cadillac ATS-L will be offered with a choice of three powerplants: a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated 200 horsepower entry-level engine, an all-new 2.0-liter turbocharged four-pot with 272 horsepower on tap and the range topping 3.6-liter V6 mill packing 321 horsepower.
Expect all models to be equipped with a standard six-speed automatic gearbox. Caddy's ATS-L will be manufactured locally by Shanghai GM, with competition coming from the Audi A4L, BMW 3Li and Volvo S60L.
Cadillac's new entry in the Chinese market is said to launch sometime this summer, with a starting price tag of 270,000 yuans (circa $43,000 at current exchange rates).
