Chevrolet Trax to Debut in Paris
But Chevrolet has built something that probably can do just that. It’s called the Trax, and it’s going to make its official debut at the 2012 Paris Motor Show next month, according to an official statement released today by Chevrolet.
The Trax is a four-door small SUV, which is comparable in size to a supermini - 4,248 mm in length, and featuring a width of 1,776 mm and a wheelbase of 2,555 mm. To keep prices down, the Chevrolet Trax will be offered with front-wheel drive, but you can also fit the car with on-demand AWD
Engine choices will include a 1.6-liter base gasoline engine only available in FWD, followed by a 1.4 turbo rated at 140 hp (103 kW) and produces a maximum torque of 200 Nm. The diesel option will come in the form of a 1.7-liter unit with 130 hp (96 kW) and a maximum torque of 300 Nm.
All powertrains with manual transmission come with Start/Stop functionality. But both the 1.7L diesel and the 1.4L turbo gasoline engine that will be introduced in 2013 will also be offered with a six-speed automatic transmission.
“For many decades, Chevrolet has been known for its dependable and capable SUVs. Trax will deliver on all of the traditional Chevrolet values and more. It is a modern, highly versatile yet fuel-efficient small SUV, offering car-like handling and all-wheel drive,” said Susan Docherty, President and Managing Director of Chevrolet Europe. “Trax is the modern expression of one of Chevrolet’s core competencies, which is building and selling great SUVs,” Docherty said.
