Chevrolet's brand new 2015 Colorado pickup truck could gain an all-terrain version in the future, General Motors truck engineer Jeff Luke revealed at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show earlier this week.
"The dealers already have been asking for an off-road model. We're considering it," said Luke, while GM president Mark Reuss added that an off-road Colorado is "absolutely" on the table. "I think there's all kinds of opportunity for accessorization and powertrain variants in a platform like this," the latter mentioned.
The last GM trucks to offer an all-terrain version were the Chevrolet S-10 and the GMC Sonoma, both discontinued in the United States almost 10 years ago.
Unveiled in Los Angeles this week, the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado will go on sale in the third quarter of 2014. The new truck marks GM's return to the compact pickup truck segment, one that has only two main contenders in the United States - Toyota Tacoma and Nissan Frontier.
