With Ram having revealed the industry's first-ever diesel-powered light-duty pickup truck, it didn't take long for rivals from GM to confirm an oil burner version for their Chevrolet lineup.
Speaking to Auto Guide, an engineer from Chevrolet said that the company will introduce a diesel engine for a non-heavy duty pickup truck in the near future. Considering that Ram is offering a diesel engine in their 1500 truck, the Silverado is more than likely to get one, but Chevy could opt to debut the mill on the smaller Colorado, which already offers such engine in other parts of the world.

There's no word on when a diesel-powered Chevrolet truck will arrive, but it could be unveiled in 2014 as a 2015 model year vehicle.

Ram's new 1500 diesel truck is moved by a turbocharged 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 engine which delivers 240 HP and 420 lb-ft of torque. The unit is available as a $2,850 option on the 2014 model.

Over to you, Ford...
