While we don't know how many people actually liked and praised the new Chevrolet Cruze, General Motors says the upgraded model caused quite a stir at the 2008 Abu Dhabi International Motor show, with lots of visitors surprised by the car. Even though most people agreed that Chevrolet Cruze is indeed a high-quality car model, some other explained that such a sedan would never attract too many buyers in the Middle East.
However, General Motors says people were really attracted by Chevrolet Cruze and, thanks to its low price yet high-quality features, it may record higher sales than one may expect.
“I really like the stance of the car...it looks very modern and sporty and really hugs the road. And the interior...wow! I can’t believe this category of car has such an amazing interior. I’ve been hearing a lot about this car since it was revealed in Europe and I’m glad that Chevrolet is going to sell the car here,” the American automaker said, praising the features of the car.
Chevrolet Cruze is expected to go on sale in the Middle East in Q2 of 2009, with pricing yet to be unveiled.
The car is powered by a 16-valve 1.6- or 1.8-liter that develop 112 or 140 horsepower respectively. Both engine versions can be mated to two different transmission boxes, namely a five-speed manual and an all-new 6 speed automatic, particularly focused on fuel efficiency and CO2 emissions.
“Visitors to the Abu Dhabi Motor Show recognized the distinction of the Cruze's interior, which carries a new level of detailed execution, spaciousness and appointments that stand above any other competitor in the segment. While putting emphasis on comfort, spaciousness, and a sporty appeal, interior designers and engineers set a goal to create a cockpit environment that is harmonious, flowing and uniquely inviting to the senses,” General Motors said in statement for the press continuing the same “our car rules” line.
