Check Out the New Lancia Ypsilon ELLE Before They Kill It

Fiat-Chrysler bosses have all but confirmed that the Lancia brand is dead. It's a real shame, but there are just too many brands for them to market and sell effectively. For now, the famous company that gave us the incredible Delta Integra is being allowed to live as a one-model, one-market affair. Since they pumped so much money into the development of the Ypsilon, it's going to stay in production, but only for a few more years.

We've never actually loved the Ypsilon. In fact, we think it's worse than the Alfa MiTo, which isn't saying much. But knowing that it could very well be the last Lancia ever developed as sparked affections that we thought were forever lost.

This is their latest in a long line of special editions. It's called the Ypsilon ELLE and as you'd expect it's designed in collaboration with the famous woman's magazine.

The press release announcing its arrival is filled with pomp and circumstance. Here's how they describe it: "The ultimate expression of Lancia elegance, and proof of the brand's continuous pursuit of innovative, contemporary new shapes, the new Ypsilon ELLE proposes exquisite paint colors, materials, fabrics and trims that reflect the model's passion for fashion."

It's not all that impressive, but it is pretty cool. This becomes obvious when you look at the new pearlescent Glam Powder Pink paint and the special burnished multichrome trims, as well as the exclusive combination of leather and Alcantara. In fact, the Ypsilon is the only car in this class that can claim it's used Alcantara in all its generations.

The same unique color shade is also used on the 16" alloy wheels. Meanwhile, the mirror caps feature either black or body-colored housings, while door pillars come with "the refined Pied De Poule pattern".

At this moment, the Ypsilon ELLE is available only in Italy, but with a wide selection of engines. These include the 69 hp 1.2 Fire EVO II running on either gasoline or LPG, the 85 hp 0.9 TwinAir in combination with manual or robotised gearbox, the 95 hp 1.3 turbodiesel MultiJet II diesel and the 80 HP 0.9 Turbo TwinAir methane engine options.
