Sinche China became the world’s largest auto market, it was only natural that the country would also start having its own tuners that would create products that can cater to the specific needs of Chinese customers. We are here now to give an example of that, which comes in the form of the Carlsson 2012 Mercedes-Benz GL 45 Royal Last Edition.
Carlsson is an ex-German tuner, but the 70 percent of the company’s stakes now belong to a Chinese car dealer called Zhongsheng Group Holdings Ltd, with the aftermarket developer now offering this project just for China.

The vehicle’s 3.0-liter V6 diesel unit has been boosted from 268 hp and 457 lb-ft (618 Nm) to 310 hp and 516 lb-ft (698 Nm), while the 5.5-liter petrol V8 was taken to 441 hp and 442 lb-ft (598 Nm).

As for the exterior tuning, the GL has received beefier wheel arches, a new radiator grille that uses a lot of chrome and the Carlsson logo, a modified front fascia and a set of custom wheels. The final touch, one that sends the car to the overkill league, if you ask us, comes in the form of a two-tone paintjob that mixes black with orange.
