Camaro Z/28 by Geiger Cars: American Muscle With a German Twist

When Chevrolet reintroduced the Z/28 in March 2013 at the New York Auto Show, muscle car fans all over went wild with the specs of the track-focused Camaro. It doesn't woo you in terms of oomph, but it's light, it's tuned to be the American equivalent to the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, and now you can have it with a significant power bump thanks to Geiger Cars.

The naturally aspirated 6.2-liter LS7 V8 motor is a creamy piece of kit. It may not have the 580 ponies of the Camaro ZL1, but those 505 horsepower and 481 lb-ft (652 Nm) of torque are enough of a handful for a car that went through such a dramatic diet. Engineers went to unbelievable lengths to shed weight. For example, this bad boy has only one speaker. If legislation would've permitted it, Chevrolet would've deleted it to save a few pounds.

For those special kind of owners that need more performance from this combination of impressive pedigree and cutting-edge modern racing technology, Hennessey Performance is offering a nice tuning package for it. We told you about it a little while back, so let's focus now with the recently unveiled package from German tuning company Geiger Cars. Let's not beat around the bush: it's an engine job that hikes the output to 620 horsepower and 534 lb-ft (725 Nm) delivered at 5,600 rpm.

Of course, the end product is still naturally aspirated to keep purists happy. Priced at €13,000 ($17,375 at current exchange rates) including labor costs, the Geiger Camaro Z/28 conversion takes just two days to finish and fine tune. Moreover, the German tuning firm is also selling already converted Z/28s, so here is a pretty fine way of acquiring a machine that has been sold out for quite a while now. Mind you, the full package including the tuned vehicle will set you back 98,000 euros, which is about 130,000 green dollar bills, so it's almost twice as expensive as a stock $75k Chevrolet Camaro Z/28.
