What you can’t see in the image above is the relaxed state of mind the Cadillac XTS offers to its driver, as well as to its occupants. Cadillac’s interim flagship was made to relax you and this is what it does. In the process, the sedan allowed us to photograph it, so we’re bringing you a set of HD wallpapers.

Make sure you keep the XTS mostly on straight roads. The car may come with Magnetic Ride Control adaptive suspension, but, if you ask Cadillac, Magneto is a superhero who fights in the name of comfort and nothing else. In other words, there’s plenty of body roll.

Hidden behind the optional 20-inch wheels (the standard ones are 19-inch units), we have Brembo stopping hardware. While this aids with the stopping distances, the deceleration process itself could be nicer. The long pedal travel and the pronounced dive make the driver feel like he’s having to work in order to bring the XTS to a halt.

The digital instrument cluster on this Cadillac is one of the best implementations we’ve seen. Not only does it perfectly fit the automaker’s style, but, at times, it makes one feel like a captain navigating his ship. Moreover, the display is part of what can be labeled as one of the best interiors in the US car industry.

No, Audi hasn’t sold Ducati to Cadillac, but we just couldn’t help ourselves and shot this Diavel exercising one of its assets (read: impersonating a motorised devil). Oh well, at least the Diavel and the XTS both have Brembo brakes.

The XTS does quite a lot for the Cadillac brand. This may be an interim flagship, replacing both the DTS and STS until a proper head honco model arrives, but its role spreads further than that. The vehicle has to connect traditional Cadillac buyers with those looking for novelty. We’ll give you a photographic take on how the car achieves this in the Full HD photo gallery of our 2014 Cadillac XTS review.
