With a lot of experience under their belt when it comes to all-electric city buses, with a reported 7 million kilometers (4.35 million miles) of total mileage, BYD is easily the largest and most important EV bus manufacturer in the world. Their vehicles have been operating successfully in many cities in China, Europe and North America.
Their 12 meter / 40 foot bus has a maximum range of 250 km (155 miles) of in-town driving, and its Iron Phosphate battery pack is reportedly one of the cleanest and greenest to manufacture in the industry. Two of their buses will now enter service in the Danish capital of Copenhagen, where the local transport company, Movia, will put the buses through their paces on a wide range of routes and conditions, testing their feasibility as one of the key factors to help the city reach its goal of being the world’s first zero-emissions capital by 2025.
The project is carried out with the help of the Municipality of Copenhagen, DONG Energy, City-Trafik and Arriva - it is expected to last for two years.
