Burnouts in a Tuned Volkswagen Touareg W12

The tuning world remains a fascinating chapter of the automotive industry, although the firms envolved sometimes do nothing more than a horrible job that simply outrages fans from all over the world. We’ve heard a lot of people claiming that Volkswagen’s Touareg W12 is already a breathtaking model, so developing an aftermarket kit just for this product would be a waste of time, resources and imagination.

But the folks over at Total Race have a different opinion and recently launched a customization program for the most powerful flavor of Volkswagen’s SUV.

Truth is, more power sounds great for most car aficionados out there, but the tuning engineers promise much more than that.

Unfortunately, Total Race hasn’t released too many details on their modifications, but mentioned that buyers curious enough to look under the hood will find a 6.0-liter engine with twin turbochargers, a ProEFI EMS system plus an intelligent all-wheel drive function that could send the power exclusively to the rear wheels, as WorldCarFans writes. And we couldn’t agree more that such an addition is simply brilliant, as we can all see and hear in the videos after the jump.

The biggest enigma is still the power generated by the engine, but expect a greater performance than the standard setup. Without a single modification, the Volkswagen Touareg W12 develops 450 horsepower and 600 Nm of torque, enough to beat the hell out of a lot smaller and lighter cars out there.

In other words, the Touareg is capable of sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 5.9 seconds, while the maximum speed is limited, for safety reasons, to 250 km/h (155 mph).
