It seems like nothing is too much for Bugatti these days. After breaking record after record with its Veyron model, the Molsheim-based manufacturer is looking towards the future and to do that they decided to enter the virtual realm.
Therefore, the company launched a new concept, the Vision Gran Turismo that is available to play with inside the famous Gran Turismo video game. Quite tempting, right? Well, we told you all about it and showed you some lovely pictures of the car earlier today but since this is Bugatti we’re talking about, the Volkswagen-owned brand decided it would be a good idea to actually build the video game car and introduce it in front of a live audience in Frankfurt this evening, during the famous Volkswagen Night.

Previewing the Chiron

Even though Bugatti never officially confirmed the name of the car that will take over from where the Veyron left off, the whole industry is going with Chiron at the moment. The mysterious new model was spotted out testing a couple of times, but information is still scarce as to how it will look like and what specs it will have.

If we’re to believe Bugatti President, Wolfgang Durheimer, the Vision Gran Turismo is actually a preview of how the next hypercar will look like. Of course, you’ll need to put on your reality-check glasses but some cue will inevitably migrate to the production car.

Furthermore, Achim Anscheidt, Head of the Bugatti design team went even further, saying that:

“Bugatti's design DNA has reached a new stage in its evolution. Given the nature of the project, our concept car for Vision Gran Turismo is overstated and pushes performance to the limits, but its progressive design language will clearly show the direction that Bugatti's design will take in the coming years."

That’s enticing, to say the least. To understand why, you need to be in our shoes and take a look at this thing from up close. Everything feels dangerous and menacing. Every crease, every angle, and every body part certainly leaves you wanting more.

Just admiring the huge wing at the back will give you chills, wondering how much downforce it can generate at high speeds. As for the Chiron migrating elements, it’s plain to see that the new hypercar will have some of the cues seen on this concept. That’s because the Vision Gran Turismo is more of an evolution of the Veyron rather than a new take on it.

The front end features the same horseshoe intake right in the middle with the Bugatti badge on it, the headlights are sleeker but feel like an adaptation of the old ones while the side profile spells Veyron all the way.

What will Chiron be like?

If its father is anything to go on, the Chiron will be a mental creation, to say the least. The car will have a heavily revised version of the W16 quad-turbo engine of the Veyron under the boot making around 1,500 HP.

That will then be joined by at least an electric motor, making this a hybrid like its chief rival, the Koenigsegg Regera. With torque rumored to reach 1,500 Nm (1,106 lb-ft), the two will definitely duke it out once they are both in production and running. Until then, we’ll just have to wait, I guess, but what we’ve seen tonight in Frankfurt will definitely live on in one way or another.
