Bugatti’s Chiron is an extraordinary feat of engineering and technology, but we believe that the Volkswagen Group’s French brand could come up with something on top of that.
We are referring to the rumored Chiron Super Sport, which is close to a unicorn at this point. Nobody has seen one, but many believe it may exist somewhere. Unlike the mythical animal, Bugatti might make a Super Sport version of the Chiron, and it could already exist in the form of a plan in a locked board room back in Molsheim, France.
Wherever Bugatti might keep the plans for the Chiron Super Sport, there’s no reason why the French carmaker will not make a car like this. The version would be able to demand an even higher asking price, which could only make the Volkswagen Group’s coffers fortunate to recover some of the money they invested into the Veyron project.
Some of you remember that Bugatti and the Volkswagen Group did not make money off the Veyron. Its versions and variants have probably not fixed the problem, and that project remained a global benchmark in excess. The Chiron is expected to top the Veyron in every single aspect, but its profitability remains under question for those that are outside the German corporation that owns this brand.
The rumored Super Sport version of the Chiron is expected to come with an increase in power, which is ludicrous when a vehicle already has 1,500 HP. The hike could come in many forms, as one hypothesis imagines the addition of one or a pair of electric superchargers, which would reduce turbo lag and improve overall power for this hypercar.
Another potential development direction would be a mild-hybrid system, which would also operate using a 48-Volt electrical system (just like the electric superchargerschargers), and it could bring a boost in certain situations.
Both scenarios presented above are possible for the Chiron Super Sport, which is set to get more power with whatever method if it gets the green light for production. Do not expect to see it too soon, because Bugatti must finish selling a big part of its quota for the Chiron first.
