Here’s something we never expected to see: a limited-production BMW for sale for less than the price asked for when it was brand new. We’re talking about the Bruno Spengler edition the company launched back in 2012.
That was the year the Motorsport division made its comeback in the DTM after 20 years of absence, with the E92 M3. They had only three teams back then and managed to propel Bruno Spengler to the number one spot in the Driver’s Championship in the final race, overtaking the Mercedes champ, Gary Paffett. It was a complete win that year, with BMW also claiming the manufacturer’s title with just 3 teams in the contest.
Such a success demanded a proper reward for the fans. Therefore, the company created a limited-run BMW E92 M3 model to celebrate Bruno’s victory. Only 54 units were made and all of them to the exact specifications the company considered fit.
The Bruno Spengler M3s were fitted with the Competition Package, M Drive, M DCT Drivelogic, the M Driver’s Package, navigation, heated seats and PDC.
The starting price used to be €105,000 which, considering the limited availability, wasn’t perceived as too much back then. However, usually, cars like this are bought as an investment as their value grows over time due to their exclusive character. It’s not the case for the number 23 car that is now for sale at BMW Autohaus Michael Schmidt, near Munich.
The reseller is offering one of these for just €85,000 which is roughly a 20% discount over the initial price. That is absolutely crazy and if you have the money, getting it would be more than recommended, especially if you’re a fan of the brand.
Apart from the fact that it’s a Bruno Spengler edition, it’s also the last M3 Coupe, the last naturally aspirated BMW ever made and the last naturally aspirated M car ever built so you have plenty of reasons to get one. Not to mention how good that Frozen Black paint looks like.
